Full Description

Sassafras is a tree or suckering shrub. The leaves are eliptical or have two or three lobes (rarely more). The leaves are edible and gummy. When young, the bark is brown maturing to gray with a hint of pink. The fruits are berry-like and are born from drooping clusters of yellow flowers.
