Pinus echinata (Shortleaf Pine)

Full Description

Pinus echinata (shortleaf pine) is a large tree that grows in Eastern United States. Athough its leaves are shorter than most native pines, its leaves are not the shortest of them all. Like other pines the shortleaf pine produces cones that eventually split open to release little samaras.
